An Extremely Boring Day...

Today is so boring, that even the flies seem to have something more interesting to do. I am at school today, in the library, as usual. Well, everyone seems very busy today, probably because of the LaSallian Convention starting tomorrow. Ah, its true then, that the grass always seems greener on the other side.
Well, since I've started writing, I might just as well make it a worthwhile one then. Well, there's not even a single topic to write about except maybe ranting about nonsense , again. I wish I'm allowed to join the Convention but, nah, my parents wouldn't stand for it. They refused to give me permission. You know those idioms that people use everyday, those that become cliches already? Here's my opinion on some of them.

(a) Good things happen to good people.
B.S. Nuff said.

(b) The grass is always greener on the other side.
Its incomplete. It should be continued with:... that is, until you get to the other side.

(c) I always see my glass as being half- full.
Sometimes you get so sick that you would rather drink everything from the glass and get it over with.

(d) Do as I say, not as I do.
Well, what do you do if someone asks you: How do you do?

(e) If someone were to gather every trouble from every single person in the world, and put it in a heap, then ask everyone to take an equal measure from the heap, they would just take their own troubles and be done with it.
Socrates
I couldn't agree more with the old guy.

(f) You can find out more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation.
Plato

It depends on what game you were playing and what you were talking about in the first place.

(g) Behind every great man, there is a great woman.
This is also incomplete. It should be continued with: ... and she's rolling her eyes.

Sports Day 2008

Ah, the last Sports Day I'll attend as a student of St. Joseph's (That is if I'm not attending Form Six). Sigh... Time does fly when you're having fun, doesn't it? Well, it takes a span of two days. Things start out a little differently this year as we always start early on the first day, but due to some unavoidable event happening at the stadium next door, we started in the afternoon. The first day can only be summed up in five words:

Its a freakin' hot day.

Trust me when I say it. Its like being trapped in the Sahara Desert or Mercury or something. Well, Things get worse when I have to go home early (at about 3 'o' clock) when heatstroke catches up on me. Well, I heard that Stefan called me a wuss or something. A note of caution: Dude, try having three layers of fat as an insulator and spend five hours working picking up balls in the hot sun. Its gonna feel like you're a short- circuited microwave oven inside, and everything goes haywire. I spent the day drinking water like a vacuum cleaner. As for Aaron K., he's gonna call me a freakin' liar if I chicken out on the second day as well.

I didn't.

Hah! In yer face. Just kidding. The second day's not too bad. We started out early, as usual. I spent nine hours sleeping and consumed three pills the night before. There's no way I'm gonna miss out on this thing. I got the same job as I did on the day before. But, God was much kinder. He brought in the clouds in the morning and some rain in the afternoon, although we did get the same hot sun after that. You know, the donkey's not there on the 2nd day. Wonder why. Didn't see Jonas or Wan around either. Its a shame that Bernie had to miss out both days.

During and after duty, a few interesting things did happen. My junior commented that Pn. Jo is nice (he's in Form 2), and yes, she is. I interrupted something that shouldn't be interrupted (RonDo should know this :P). Oh, yeah, FYI I owe someone a trip to the KFC, which I apparently forgot until that person reminded me. All in all, its a very good day, except at the end of it I end up looking like a zebra because of the sunburn (lol). See ya!

Things To Do Before 2008 Is Over

I know that most people think that resolutions can be made at the beginning of a new year, but its not necessarily true. So, as promised to RonDo, here are my resolutions for the second half of year 2008:

1. Get over it. (I think RonDo knows what I mean). : )

2. Eat less fried chicken (Sigh...)

3. Study for the SPM (Arghhhhh!!!)

4. Be less awkward around other people.

5. Practise! Practise! Practise!

6. Do something that is both good and totally unexpected

7. Daydream less often

8. Bite my tongue more often ( I think RonDo knows what this statement means)

9. Make my blog and posts less barren (as Donkey puts it)

10. Appreciate people more often

11. Have different outlooks on some things

12. Take things less seriously ( as Jonas puts it)

13. Learn to forgive and forget.

14. Tie up all loose ends

and, last but not least...

15. Follow this list and never forget why I did it in the first place

There you go. Sleep is catching up on me again. Bye...

Happy Holidays, everyone!!!

What Happened During The Blackout

Something weird happened last night. A blackout just hit my neighbourhood and get this, only my neighborhood. The other neighbouring houses seem just fine. But life just seems to find a way to make itself interesting, doesn't it. Here's what happened:

Me: Mitosis is....

Bzzt....

Everything goes dark all of a sudden.

Me: Oh, shit. Not now. Not when I really have the mood to study.

So, I crept out of my room into the dark hallway outside. This is one of those times when I'm glad that my house is a single- storey house. No stairs to tumble down from. I took a torchlight from the kitchen drawer after some groping and went to my parents bedroom to check on them. Apparently, both of them are still awake and were watching TV when it happened. Wait, there's more to come...

Clang! Clang!

Me: Isn't that the padlock being rattled?

So, my dad took my torchlight and went outside to check what was the clanging all about.

For self- defense purposes, he held the torchlight up like a bat, ready to swing at the uninvited visitor. He turns the knob and...

Out came our friendly neighbourhood neighbour!!

His reason for clanging on the padlock: "Sorry, I was just checking up on you, people. Manalah tau you didn't know about the blackout. Anyway, what are neighbours for, kan?"

Me: That's all? Well, apparently someone missed a lesson or two about what it means to be a neighbour.

Rule No. 1: Never clang on your neighbour's padlock, especially late at night, which is why we install the door in the first place.

That's not all. When I stepped outside, the whole neighbourhood is dark. Some little midget apparently thought today was Hari Raya or something. He took a candle and lit a firecracker. Well, before you know it, other midgets starts to join in as well/

Sinister Thoughts

Today is very different than any other day. I had a lot of sinister thoughts running through my mind today (much more than usual ,anyway). But then again, everyone must have had at least one sinister thought running through their mind everyday, even if its just for a split second.
Anyway, I write this post because of an interesting 'hypothesis' which I thought of while staring absent- mindedly into space one day. Well, I, for one think that everyone, and lets make it clear that there are no exceptions, have two sides to themselves:the good one and the bad one (duh!!). But, it is, however, quite interesting to consider what happens if the two sides mix together. Well, what does happen when the line between the good and the bad inside a person is blurred? How do we make a choice when the choices seem equally rational, good or bad?
I believe, however, that the human mind is a more complex structure that what it is initially presented as. It is not only a question of choosing the good and getting rid of the bad, but more of how much a certain thing appeals to you, and how you would justify yourselves when you do it.
The bottomline here is, I am trying to say that sometimes having sinister thoughts is a natural process, in which the good, (or the ego) and the bad (or the id) is always in constant conflict with one another. Yet, our choices are actually determined by our ability to compromise between both.
All this philosophy is tiring me out. I better go to bed before I ramble more nonsense...

Some People Just Don't Get It...

Today, I have just found out that some people has such a thick skull that its almost impossible for anything, anything, mind you, to penetrate it. Now, I am referring to none other than the 'esteemed' friend of mind, Mr. Rondo. A few days ago he even took some liberty to define me as a solar eclipse.
When I asked him about it, he just did his trademark cynical (and sometimes loathsome) smile and said, "I don't know".
Here's the rest of the conversation.

Me: What do you mean, you don't know? You're the one who said it.

Rondo: I don't know. Its true- lah.

Me: How come you don't know. It can't be that hard for you to put it in English.

Rondo: Its just... complicated.

Me: What the !@#$!!!! (Stalks away feeling very angry)

(Just so you know, we were discussing D.A.P. at that time, and, no, it is NOT the political party)

A (Not So) Surprising Reunion

Today, we are introduced to our substitute Additional Maths teacher who turns out to be.... our retired Form 3 Mathematics teacher!! Well, actually, we were told earlier that her name is Teacher A, but we never expected her to be the same teacher A that teaches us Mathematics two years ago. Oh, well. Welcome back, teacher.
She began our class today by (re) introducing herself. After that, she reads our names from the class list out loud and we introduce ourselves to her, as part of the traditional ice- breaking (again).
Well, she does seem to remember some of us.
She announced that she will only be replacing our current Additional Mathematics teacher, who is currently hospitalized due to an accident for two weeks. Well, I hope that my teacher will recover soon. ( From what I heard, her injuries are rather serious). Get well soon, teacher. Good night.

Self- Appointment As An Unnoficial Member of The BATT Project

Today, I wish to express my condolences to Danny Grober for having had to endure the endless snide cmments made by the Dolphin and the Donkey. However, I also wish to congratulate both of them for successfully launching the second phase of the BATT project. I would also like to announce my self- appointment as an unofficial member of the BATT project.
For Danny ( who have just been very recently christened as the Piglet) I would advise him to follow the old saying of "If you can't beat them, join them". This is actually supposed to help him get through these 'difficult' times. They will soon forget about this thing (however, I myself highly doubt that they will) .
That's all, I think, on my opinion regarding this matter. See ya!

Oh, yes. Before I forget.
Song of the Day: (a recently- installed feature, due to the successful launching of the second phase of BATT)
Fantasie in F Minor for Piano (Four Hands)- Franz Peter Schubert

Quote of The Day:
What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.
Juliet, in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet

P.S. Both the song and the quote is dedicated to BATT. For those who wish to listen to the song, go to Youtube and look under the tags michael, mcelvain, ben bader, schubert, fantasie

The Centaur and The Swan: 'If only...'

Today has been, how shall I put it... sentimental. I am slowly ( and forcefully) reminded of a few things that I wish to leave behind right now, since SPM is only five months away. I leave those things behind and start anew for various reasons. However, I choose not to brood over it too much, as everyone must have a bad day once in a while. If anyone asks about the significance of the title, well, its just something spontaneous which I thought of while I was lost in thought today. On a brighter note, tomorrow is class photography day, ( finally!!).We're gonna have to go to this photography studio called Jacky's Studio, which is next to this restaurant/ bar/ bistro/ whatever the heck called 'Jambu' :) Danny Grober pointed out the place as a 'glass bungalow'. (What the heck!! Gee, thanks Danny, that's very 'helpful' of you).
Frankly speaking, I can see that some of my classmates aren't too happy with the decision, but, ya know, what's the problem with a little outing. I know some of you are a bit reluctant to spend the hard- earned RM 10.00 and half- an- hour hour just to catch a single photo, but, just to make you feel better, think of how you'll look at the picture, umm... ten years to come. You probably wouldn't want to look at some cheap, black- and- white photo wouldn't you, now? Well, see ya tomorrow. Gotta go.

Natural Rubber and Fat: A New Perspective

During Chemistry tuition the other night, I somehow got myself involved in the conversation between two of my classmates. Here are the details of the 'intellectual' conversation. (For copyright and various other unmentionable reasons, I will refer to them as A and B instead of their real names :)

Teacher: Can anyone tell me the best way to remove fat? (Real answer: Soap)

Classmate A: It's liposuction, teacher (lol)

Teacher: For uses of natural rubber, I will leave it to your imagination to decide what it is. ( ehemm...)

Classmate A: You know what B, I think I lost my 'rubber'.

Classmate B: No, I think you must have misplaced it somewhere. ( not taking the hint...)

Classmate A: I think I left it in the car

Classmate B: Ohhh, I get it. ( Now he got it) :()

Well, now I know what I'm not gonna put in my SPM paper. Thanks for enlightening me, A and B. I owe you.
Oh yeah, about the History test that I mentioned earlier. Turns out to be a false alarm, its next week, not this week.

First-Time Jitters

Hi everyone!!!
This is my first time writing a blog, so I hope you like it. When I went to my group study this evening, it turns out to be more of a lol time than a study time (So much for all the books). For those even interested to find out about what happened, you can ask RonDo about it. But here's a sneak peek: it involves me, RonDo and A-Sharp (Please don't get mad A- Sharp!). All in all, we had more fun scaring the heck out of Form 4 students (and each other in the process) than discussing short stories (Hey! It was his idea, not mine!). Well, time for me to study, I have a test coming tomorrow, and I haven't even touched a page on History yet.
